For nearly five decades, Jasper Johns has been one of the foremost artists of our time. A painter who also makes prints, Johns takes his place alongside Rembrandt Van Rijn, Francesco Goya, and Pablo Picasso as one of the greatest printmakers in western art.Johns assumes such company because of the visceral beauty of his prints, the high ambitiousness of their expressive content, and their technical innovation and craftsmanship. Jasper Johns: The Prints, a full-dress retrospective exhibition of the artist’s achievements in print media, supports these appraisals with over 100 lithographs, screenprints, and intaglios.

The exhibition will be on view in MMoCA’s main galleries.

Create a miniature faerie cottage from wood, twigs, and branches, then decorate it in a fanciful way with birch bark, pinecones, beads, buttons, and dried flowers during the Faerie Cottage Workshop.Local artist Tatiana Katara will guide participants to build the same type of faerie cottages featured in Olbrich’s Holiday Express Model Train and Flower Show in December.

Come “Fathom the Future” at a Gala to benefit the new American Family Children’s Hospital.Join Friends of UW Hospital and Clinics for a spectacular evening of exploration and discovery. You’ll be taken on a journey under the sea by Dr. Robert Ballard, the nationally-renowned deep-sea explorer who discovered the wreckage of the Titanic.

Tickets are $150 a person or $1200 for a table of 8. The event includes a gourmet meal, silent and live auctions, and an “after party” featuring live entertainment along with a coffee and dessert bar.
