| For nearly five decades, Jasper Johns has been one of the foremost artists of our time. A painter who also makes prints, Johns takes his place alongside Rembrandt Van Rijn, Francesco Goya, and Pablo Picasso as one of the greatest printmakers in western art.Johns assumes such company because of the visceral beauty of his prints, the high ambitiousness of their expressive content, and their technical innovation and craftsmanship. Jasper Johns: The Prints, a full-dress retrospective exhibition of the artist’s achievements in print media, supports these appraisals with over 100 lithographs, screenprints, and intaglios.
The exhibition will be on view in MMoCA’s main galleries. |
