April 4: The 5 Browns
Overture Center for the Arts, 201 State St., Madison
Made up of five 20-something brothers and sisters, The 5 Browns could be the new face of classical music. Ryan, Melody, Gregory, Deondra and Desirae made history when they all studied piano simultaneously at New York City’s prestigious Julliard School—it was the first time ever that the musical institution accepted five members from the same family. Trained as soloists, the quintet also plays amazing five-piano arrangements. Desirae says, “We’re simply making [classical] music cool for our time.”
April 5: Four Bitchin’ Babes
Overture Center for the Arts, 201 State St., Madison
This quartet of outrageously funny and multi-talented gal pals want you to know that while they intend to age gracefully, they will not go quietly! Hear what they have to say (and sing) about the joys and dilemmas of everyday life. With witty and poignant performances, this musical revue is a no-holds-barred collision of song and stand-up comedy. Stars Sally Fingerett, Debi Smith, Nancy Moran and Deirdre Flint deliver terrifically funny performances that Billboard magazine says “stir the heart as well as the funny bone.”
