| Based in Montreal, Quebec, and a leader in the contemporary circus movement, Cirque Éloize combines time-honored circus elements with music, dance, theater and performance to create a new brand of artistry that demolishes our old ideas about the meaning of “circus” and replaces them with something truly magical. Will there be clowns and pratfalls? Sure. But there will also be mystery, shadows and a hint of Shakespeare. In Nebbia, Cirque Éloize has created a universe composed of, to borrow a phrase from The Tempest, “such stuff as dreams are made on.” The way you think about circuses will never be the same. |

| Acclaimed crooner Lee Lessack and actress Linda Purl, a veteran of Broadway and prime time television, bring you an evening of Johnny Mercer, the lyricist behind such standards as “Moon River,” “Autumn Leaves” and “Satin Doll.” Few others match Mercer’s contribution to the American songbook.
Lessack’s smooth baritone and Purl’s sophisticated delivery are the perfect vehicles for these musical gems. Chicago Tribune critic Howard Reich calls Lessack “the best male cabaret singer to come along since Michael Feinstein,” and LA Weekly writes, “Purl is a sultry nightclub star [who] combines intimate stories, humor and delicious song styling.” Together, the effect is marvelous indeed. |

What Mike Leckrone, his production staff and the Badger Band accomplish each April is extraordinary. No other college band puts on such a professional production for one night, much less three, the way the Wisconsin Band family does. How is this possible? Well, there is much dedication on the part of Mike and his staff, many of whom have been with him for 20-plus years. Then, there is the Band which embraces each performance as they know how special they are. But, the main reason these performances work is because of the support we have received from you, the Badger Band fan. Without you attending for many, many years we would not be able to present such extravagant performances. The Wisconsin Band thanks you for all of your support throughout the years. |

| Throughout his remarkable life, Aldo Leopold kept a daily journal in which he recorded his observations of the natural world. The journals documenting his observations at the “shack” provided the theme of Leopold’s classic book, A Sand County Almanac, and they give us a detailed picture of the schedule of seasonal events, such as when various flowers bloomed and birds migrated, in the 1930s and 1940s. Today, many of the seasonal events Leopold observed are now occurring much earlier in the year, reflecting the warming of our climate. Join Dr. Stan Temple in questioning what will be the consequences for wildlife in Wisconsin. Suggested program donation of $2.00/person. |

Resisting arrest in Illinois, they killed a sheriff & wounded two deputies. Captured in a gunfight in Nebraska, Ed Maxwell is returned to Durand for trial, but is lynched before the event. It is hard to believe that this newly-researched piece of Wisconsin history is a love story! Join Les Kruger, author of Brothers in Blood, for this slide lecture. Charles Gounod’s FAUST
While Madison Opera has already been called “The hottest ticket in town,” the temperature is sure to get even warmer when Faust ignites the Overture Hall stage in May. In the most popular setting of Goethe’s dramatic deal with the devil, this monumental tale is nowhere better served than by Gounod’s soaring melodies and luscious orchestration in this true “grand” opera. French conductor, Laurent Campellone (The Pearl Fishers ’07) returns to Madison Opera to lead an international cast featuring tenor David Lomeli as Faust, soprano Jill Gardner as Marguerite and David Pittsinger as Mephistopheles, in a production by acclaimed director Bernard Uzan. |
