Thanks for the comments about my shop, Katie. You are right-on about the benefits of adding strength to the soft-side of any decor. Often it's just the material. Like wire. As an idea: The fencing mask could cover a candle on a shelf or be wired as a sconce (I did this for my son) or just hang on the wall as a muse of sorts - an intriguing piece of sculpture and history that it projects. Thanks again. Do check out the website often for a changing array of finds: unearthedmadison.com

You have inspired me to dredge up my own estate sale pieces and seek out help to upholster them. It's great to be a do-it-yourselfer on some things but sometimes smarter in the long run to find experienced help on bigger projects.

I love the whole concept of finding a piece of old furniture and seeing potential in it enough to take it home and give it some love and make it beautiful again! I'm inspired by this piece. It does have great lines, and it's a very handsome console. And painting it to suit the room you have it intended for is so nice to be able to do. This is a piece you can be very proud of Rachel! Nice work!

These chairs look great! And I love that they were free, AND the fabric got to be a very personal choice. Buying from a store just doesn't give you as many options. I'm going to definately keep my eye peeled this summer for some bargain chairs I can have made over! Thanks for the great advice!

Katie, thanks for the comment! Sustain Dane has excellent rain barrels for sale locally (http://www.rainfordane.com/), which they can also install for you. They will be selling them next on Saturday, May 3 in conjunction with the City of Madison's compost bin sale. Keep checking our blog for future posts with additional EnAct tips to reduce your carbon footprint inside and outside of your home.
